SUMMARY:FAIR USE at the North Star House
DESCRIPTION:FAIR USE\, a play by Sands Hall\, explores the controversy surrounding the unattributed use Wallace Stegner made of the life and writings of Mary Hallock Foote in creating his novel\, Angle of Repose. (Mary and her husband Arthur lived in the North Star house for 30 years of their amazing lives.) This is a fundraiser for the North Star House\, as well as memorial to the dearly loved Peggy Levine\, who worked so hard and successfully to restore  the house and whose vision helped create the community center it has become. This staged reading features Kim Culbertson\, Lois Ewing\, Les Solomon\, Tom Taylor\, Sharon Winegar\, and T.E. Wolfe.

SUMMARY:The 24 Hour Plays: Nevada City
DESCRIPTION:Six plays written\, rehearsed\, and produced in 24 hours. A galvanizing evening! \nThe previous evening\, six writers\, six directors\, and 20-odd actors meet and greet each other; the actors offer audition pieces\, and then they and the directors go home and sleep—and the writers get to work. The writers choose the actors they want to use (all actors must be used\, and each only in one play) and write until dawn\, when the actors and directors return (and the writers go home and sleep). The six plays go into rehearsal\, lights and sound are added\, doors open at 6:00\, and the show begins at 7:00. The audience watches six plays that\, 24 hours before\, didn’t exist! Tickets are $15 and include a reception following the performance\, with a no host bar\, The 24 Hour Plays to celebrate this extraordinary community event. Proceeds benefit theatre programs at the Miners Foundry.
