Delighted to be performing with Maggie McKaig and Sally Ashcraft as The Songbirds. We’ve been having such fun putting this set together, creating three part harmonies on a delightful variety of songs, by songwriters such as the McGarrigle Sisters, Elizabeth Cotton, Utah Phillips, and Richard Fariña, as well as a few originals by Maggie and Sands. We’ll be joined on a number of the tunes by Luke Wilson on banjo and dobro and Murray Campbell on violin and oboe: we think the combination of all these lines of harmony and rhythm are pretty lovely. Plus there’s fun to be had: Don’t you think you need to see us all singing and playing in goggles—and to find out why? The concert is free.
Musical Mondays is a series hosted by InConcert Sierra at the amphitheater at the Madelyn Helling Library in Nevada City. The effort of the free series is to educate children to the joys of music, but I attended the first one, featuring Beaucoup Chapeaux, and there were many adults also having an abundantly good time. I hope that you’ll be inspired to bring your cup of coffee and join the fun. It’s just a great way to start the day—and the week.
